The NASA Engineering Design Challenge connects students with the challenges faced by NASA engineers as they design the next generation of space vehicles, habitats and technology. Space shuttle Endeavour carried two collapsible plant growth chambers with the associated hardware to conduct a 20-day plant germination investigation and approximately 10 million cinnamon basil seeds. The seeds in this package can be used to validate the Lunar Plant Growth Chamber design.
The Activity Kit is FREE -- Pay Shipping Only. This EDC kit is available for a flat-rate shipping cost of $6.50. The kit includes the following items:
--Five packets of seeds. Each packet includes one envelope of space seeds and one envelope of Earth seeds.
--Liftoff to Learning: Plants in Space DVD.
--The Ozone Monitoring Garden Lithograph.
--The Engineering Design Challenge: Lunar Plant Growth Chamber Bookmark.
Seed packets are only available for distribution to residents of the United States, U.S. territories and outlying areas (American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Midway Islands, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands).
